Spray Foam Insulation

What Is Spray Foam?

Spray foam is a state-of-the-art, spray-in-place soft foam insulation that is revolutionizing home and commercial building insulation. Spray foam is an air barrier system that effectively seals wall, floor, and ceiling cavities against air movement, including spaces around electrical outlets and light fixtures, at baseboards, and where walls meet windows and doors.

This means that outside air (either hot or cold) can’t seep through walls, causing drafts or cold spots. It also means that humid interior air can’t enter the walls and condense. It has been documented that enough air escapes from a typical house every day to fill two Goodyear blimps. That’s a lot of money out of your pocket!

 What Are the Benefits?

A More Energy Efficient Home – Creating an air barrier with spray foam improves energy efficiency and helps cooling systems keep pace with the summer heat. Spray foam virtually eliminates the heating and air conditioning lost through air leakage, saving you lots of money when it comes to those long Chicago winters and hot summers.

Environmentally Friendly – In addition to saving you money, insulation is great for the environment because it cuts down on wasteful energy consumption. There’s no better way to go green than insulation your house.

Improved Building Longevity – Many homes suffer from condensation and mold growth, caused by water damage and air leakage across the building envelope. Air barriers such as spray foam significantly reduce random air leakage, minimizing the flow of airborne moisture that breeds condensation, mold growth, and decay and extending the life of your home.

A Quieter Home – Spray foam insulation reduces airborne sound from outside, such as noise from cars, trucks, and wind. It also cuts down on interior noise such as that from home theaters, playrooms, and plumbing.

A Healthier Home – Spray foam prevents pollutants and allergens from entering your home by trapping particles in its continuous air barrier. Plus, it’s mold-resistant, preventing decay and the associated health problems.

Better Than Traditional Insulation

_L2A8454CropSpray foam is more efficient than traditional insulation because it creates a complete air seal around your house, preventing the flow of air in and out. Traditional insulation is more like a warm sweater – it helps insulate your body but cold air still passes through.

You’ll save more money with spray foam because it will cost less to heat and cool your home. Additionally with traditional insulation materials, HVAC professionals typically need to install larger air conditioning units, which cost more to install and operate.

And because spray foam stays in place and never sags or settles, you won’t have to worry about the energy efficiency of your home slowly decreasing over time.

Spray foam is also healthier than traditional insulation materials such as pink fiberglass, which often emit chemicals and dust into the air.

Maximize Energy Efficiency

Eco Tec uses advanced thermal imaging technology to identify the sources of heat loss in your home. Thermal imaging creates a map of temperatures in your home. It allows us to e153asily pinpoint where hot (or cool) air is leaking out of your house.

By insulating those areas we can greatly improve the energy efficiency of your home, keeping heating or air conditioning in your living space and saving you money. Contact us to see if thermal imaging can help identify sources of heat loss in your home.
