Ragdale Foundation Meadow Studio
Lake Forest, IL
The Meadow Studio, built in 1943 as a sculpture studio for Shaw’s daughter Sylvia Shaw Judson is where she created one of her most famous sculptures Bird Girl. Students were put in place to design and build a piece of architecture in an historically important and unique landscape setting. In addition, the students are working to design the most sustainable possible building through the use of appropriate new technologies and natural materials. Icynene was their choice for insulation due to its unique characteristics that would allow the Meadow Studio to last for 100 plus years.
Brown Shoe Factory Lofts Restoration
Fairview Heights, IL
A foreclosure owned by Litchfield National Bank, the Brown Shoe Factory sat vacant for a number of years. After finally being purchased as a redevelopment for fixed income and low income housing, the challenge was how to design the project to maintain part of its original infrastructure but create and energy effecient living space at the same time. Icynene spray foam insulation provided a solution for this very problem.
